Please join us in helping domestic violence victims. The lockdown has put more partners and children in danger than ever before. Help The Hotline empower those at risk take their children to safety.
For each $10k we raise, Jean promises to keep running JeanDate for another month.
In the last weeks, there have been more reports than ever before of people’s home situations changing for the worse. Mothers with nowhere to escape abusive partners. Children, home from school, subject to parents under more stress than usual.
We’ve set up this fundraiser for the JeanDate community to contribute to a cause that we believe to be one of the most in need of help right now. And no, you don’t need to be involved with JeanDate in any way to participate!
If you’re participating in Zoom dating, we encourage you to consider donating what you would normally spend on a couple of in-person dates. This is a tax-deductible donation. Make sure to keep employer matching in mind!
Why give?
It’s shockingly common.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner contact sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking.
It affects ⅓ of our nation’s children.
By age 17, over one-third of America’s children will have been exposed to domestic violence. Witnessing violence can result in fractured relationships, poor academic success, alcoholism, mental health issues, and criminal behavior lasting into adulthood.
Hotlines help victims.
On a typical day, there are more than 20,000 phone calls placed to domestic violence hotlines nationwide. The primary referral type made by hotline advocates in 2018 was legal resources for victims.
Thank you to Jennifer Li and Anna Leshinskaya for being part of the fundraising team!
